ABOUT THE PRACTICE

JULIA DEANE is a nervous system-informed, trauma-informed psychotherapist with over 10 years of experience working with children and adults.

Much of her work has been with those experiencing relationship issues, social anxiety, separation anxiety, PTSD, depression, self-harm, substance abuse, domestic violence, body image issues, and issues of identity.

Julia is training to become a somatic experiencing practitioner through Peter Levine's Somatic Experiencing International Institute. This modality helps people identify and discharge trauma in their bodies through psychotherapy. Julia uses somatic experiencing to help bridge the gap between mind and body while simultaneously providing clients with psychotherapy and reformer pilates all in one.

Julia subscribes to a relational and attachment-based therapeutic style rooted in modern psychodynamic psychotherapy and is also influenced by a modern-psychoanalytic perspective. Her diverse educational and professional backgrounds enable her to draw from a variety of evidence-based practices in order to best meet the needs of each individual client.

Julia is interested in movement, meditation, and mindfulness in clinical practice and how tools gleaned from these traditions can assist clients in coping and healing. Julia has worked with diverse populations including people from different socioeconomic, racial, and cultural backgrounds as well as members of the LGBTQ+ community.
